Back at one for infinitum

It doesn't matter how old you are because at some point in your life when trials and tribulations occur, you will have to start your life all over again from the ground up. The most important thing is to be good to yourself and don't give up on yourself either.. Relationships do not have to be romantic for this song to apply to you or your friends When things don't go your way or out of your control, see yourself in the moment. Be angry. Be frustrated. Be exasperated. Be all of those things that make you want to give up and be avarice about the whole situation. If you don't pick yourself up from the broken pieces, the vicious cycle will never end. Find help. Get help. Don't give up. Learn something new. Change your perspective. Yes; I know it's going to be a challenge. Learn from these things and become a better you. You will find others will hear and see your story, your perseverance, your determination, your compassion and your courage. They will cheer you ...

First Home

Image
Today marks the day we signed a lease to a town home. Granted, the market for buying houses isn't the greatest time and opportunity to do so, but it's better than the alternative (homeless). There are Credit Unions and other available  lending services that will help you get your first home. Be sure to shop around first before embarking on this kind of investment. As I have mentioned in previous blogs, there are people out there that want to mooch off from you. Tips for first-time homebuyers, 12+ months out Check your credit score  The higher your credit score, the better the interest rate on your mortgage. Thoroughly understand where your credit stands. When pulling free reports from all three agencies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion), look for any errors or past-due accounts that might have gone to collections. These liabilities can create roadblocks when you apply for a home loan. If anything is amiss, contact the creditor to see if you can sort it out. Your credit...

Adult musings

Image
To all the people I've angered and hurt, I want to deeply express my remorse. I hope you forgive me.  Growing up isn't just about becoming an adult. It's about learning and growing in an endless and expanding Universe and how to be connected among its elements. The polity of society is all but order in the chaos of Nature. Being a pusillanimous is not all that bad. Sometimes you just have to outweigh the risks over the benefit. There are plenty of people who like to mooch off from your skills and abilities. Be alert and wary of such associations. Do not believe for a moment that your act of kindness and generosity as a sign of weakness. In reality it's not. It's a strong virtue of a decent human being. When you are raised in a household built on trust, loyalty, patience, compassion and grace, you are more than just a model citizen. You are the epitome of  God's likeness. Whether you believe in the God of the Universe, that's entirely a matter of opinion and...

Relationships at its finest

Image
Your first experience connecting with another person will always be your parents. Granted, some children are fortunate to have parents who are of sound mind, an emotional quotient of a saint, and have a vast capacity of patience. I can't compare my experience to other children's lives, but the main cause of my suffering was the lack of support and understanding of how to be human and connect in a meaningful way. If I were to paraphrase a statement of what someone said, will the context and meaning of the message be construed? Most definitely! It is why many religions choose their words carefully. Religion in its most altruistic form is good. Many people would benefit from it. Here are the most common sense notions that I know everyone will agree on. Do not promise what you cannot keep If you don't know, simply state so. Make this a quest for knowledge. Children are born without experience. Advocate to be their mentor and guide without prejudice. Pick up after yourself. No ...

Financial investment and budgeting

Where I grew up, I was told to start investing when I start earning money. If I knew what I know now when I was 10 years old, I could have been saving my own money in my own account, at my own preferred bank. If I was able to invest my money at 10 years old, imagine the financial freedom I would have to completing my education, or having my child set for the rest of their life. I was raised as fodder for men. My mother wanted me to find myself a rich Christian man, who is willing and capable to support the family. I grew up in the 90s. Finding a husband willing to support my parents was very slim. Maybe if we lived in China, perhaps that chance was possible. It was ingrained in me that "Money is the root of all evil." I never thought to touch it or deal with it. I didn't start investing my money until I was 21. Since I was not very good with money, I created an account for my child. Even when I was discharged from the United States Air Force in 2004, $35,000 was a lot of...

To Parent or not to Parent

I was 14 years old when I decided that I wanted to have children. Mind you, I had taken sexual education from a different country where making families is important to the community. My reason for wanting children was very selfish in the sense of adoration and awe. No; I did not want to be worshipped. I wanted someone whom I can teach my knowledge and skills in a way we can survive together. Practically speaking from my preferred lifestyle, I didn't want to be alone, unwanted and afraid. To those who choose to be single, more power to you. That's a lot of work and effort to prevent yourselves from being pregnant or getting someone pregnant. The first time I was exposed to how Americans provide sexual education to teenagers, I was not amused by it's vapid lack of factual information.  Here's the thing. The clitoris is not where you pee. As you should all know from biology class, if you were paying attention, the clitoris is the female version of the penis. A pea-sized p...
